A Guide To Getting Married At
The Corinthia Hotel

Getting Married In One Of The World’s Iconic Hotels

Corinthia Hotel Wedding Photographer

The doorman steps aside. You walk through the entrance on Whitehall Place and into a lobby that makes you stop for a moment. The height of it. The restoration. The quiet, attentive stillness of a hotel that has been doing this at the highest level since 1885.

This is the Corinthia Hotel London, steps from the Thames, moments from Trafalgar Square and Westminster, and genuinely one of the most celebrated addresses in the city.

It is the kind of place where the standard of everything, the rooms, the food, the flowers on the desk in your suite, is so consistently exceptional that the word luxury stops feeling adequate.

You chose the Corinthia because you wanted your wedding to feel like an event.

Something that the people you love will still be talking about in twenty years. A day where every detail was considered before you arrived and looked after long after the last guest left.

That is exactly what the Corinthia delivers.

My approach to wedding photography is all about real moments between people, and the Corinthia Hotel gives you the space for those moments to unfold naturally.

Photographing Weddings At The Corinthia Hotel

The Corinthia is one of the most photographically gorgeous venues I work in.

Every room has been considered. The light in the Courtroom during a morning ceremony. The Garden Lounge during the cocktail reception. The Ballroom as the chandeliers take over from the daylight. Nothing here looks accidental.

I know where to position myself during the ceremony to catch the expression on your partner’s face before you see it yourself. I know how the Garden Lounge fills and moves and where the best light sits at different points in the afternoon.

I know which London landmarks are worth the short walk after the ceremony and how long to spend at each one before the day pulls you back inside.

A getting-ready photograph from a wedding I shot here won Fearless Photographers’ Photo of the Day. The hotel rooms at the Corinthia are genuinely extraordinary to work in.

Getting Ready At
The Corinthia Hotel

The Corinthia has 294 rooms, 40 suites and seven penthouse suites. Your morning begins inside the hotel — in a suite that photographs beautifully, with your team already there and the whole of central London outside the window.

The penthouse suites are in a category of their own. A personal butler, access to a private wine collection, and rooms that look like they were designed specifically to be photographed. The getting-ready images from a Corinthia wedding are some of the most distinctive I take anywhere in London.

Breakfast at Kerridge’s Bar and Grill. Drinks on the terrace. The morning set entirely at the pace they choose.

Before the ceremony, ESPA Life, the Corinthia’s 3,300-square-metre spa, is worth planning around. It is one of the finest hotel spas in Europe, and there is nowhere better to spend time before your wedding day begins.

The Ceremony Spaces

The Corinthia is licensed for civil ceremonies and civil partnerships in four distinct spaces, each with its own character and capacity.

The Ballroom

The centrepiece of the hotel and the most photographed room. A grand Victorian ballroom with soaring columns, crystal chandeliers, beautifully restored cornicing and floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the room with natural light from a private Whitehall Place entrance.

The Ballroom seats up to 250 guests for a ceremony and accommodates 350 for a standing reception. For couples who want something genuinely grand, a room that announces itself from the moment you walk in, nothing at the Corinthia matches it.

The Nelson Room

For more intimate ceremonies of up to 60 guests. Modern in feel, with tasteful decor and a quieter, more personal atmosphere than the grander spaces. Ideal for couples who want the ceremony itself to feel close and private, with the larger spaces available for the reception.

The Courtroom Corinthia Wedding Photographer

The Courtroom

The most distinctive ceremony space in the hotel. Dove-grey walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, mirrored surfaces, and a crescent-shaped design that creates a natural aisle between two adjacent rows of guests. Seats up to 150 guests.

The light in here is exceptional at any time of day, and the room photographs differently from every angle, which is exactly what you want from a ceremony space.

The Codrington Room

For more intimate ceremonies of up to 60 guests. Modern in feel, with tasteful decor and a quieter, more personal atmosphere than the grander spaces. Ideal for couples who want the ceremony itself to feel close and private, with the larger spaces available for the reception.

The Reception Spaces

The Corinthia offers several distinct spaces to move through throughout the day, each adding a different dimension to the celebration.

The Garden Lounge

One of the most beautiful rooms in the hotel and the natural choice for the cocktail reception.

Light pours in from every angle, the planting gives it a freshness that contrasts beautifully with the Victorian grandeur of the ballroom next door, and the room has an energy that draws guests in and keeps them there.

I photographed the cocktail reception here, and the room makes the job look effortless.

Kerridge’s Bar & Grill

Tom Kerridge’s Michelin-starred restaurant within the hotel offers a private dining room for the most intimate celebrations, perfect for rehearsal dinners, smaller wedding breakfasts or pre-wedding events for a closer circle of guests.

The Ballroom

After drinks, guests move into the Ballroom for the wedding breakfast.

The room transitions from ceremony to dining seamlessly, and the natural light that makes it so good for daytime ceremonies gives way to something more dramatic in the evening, as the chandeliers take over.

The Penthouses and Suites

Seven penthouse suites and 40 suites, including the bridal suite with a personal butler and access to a private wine collection.

For a wedding where the overnight experience is part of the celebration, for the couple, the immediate families and the closest guests, there is nowhere in London that delivers this level of accommodation within the venue itself.

How Much Does It Cost To Have A Wedding At The Corinthia Hotel?

The Corinthia works on a bespoke basis, every wedding is quoted individually based on the spaces used, guest numbers, date and menu choices. That said, here is a realistic guide to what to expect.

For the most significant celebrations using both the Ballroom and the Garden Lounge with the full 350 standing capacity and penthouse suites for the immediate families, budgets can extend well beyond £100,000.

Pricing is not published openly, contact the weddings team for a bespoke quotation.

A Corinthia Hotel Wedding

The morning began in style across several of London’s finest locations.

The groom’s party took breakfast at The Ivy, then returned to The Savoy to prepare. The groomsmen gathered on the rooftop of the Trafalgar Hotel with the London skyline spread out behind them before making their way to the Corinthia.

Back at the hotel, bridal preparations were full of playful energy in one of the stunning hotel rooms. The light was exactly right.

A single photograph from this getting-ready session went on to win an award from several photography bodies for its composition.

Just before the guests arrived, the groom sat alone in the Courtroom, quiet in the moments before everything began. That photograph is one of the most honest ever taken in a ceremony room.

The ceremony in the Courtroom was everything it should be. The cocktail reception in the Garden Lounge that followed it was exactly the kind of room that makes guests feel they are somewhere genuinely special.

The wedding breakfast in the Grand Ballroom. Speeches that covered every emotion, culminating in the bride’s father presenting the groom’s parents with a plaque inscribed in English and Burmese, a quiet and deeply moving acknowledgement of where both families came from and where they were now going together.

The couple’s favourite photograph of the day is of them seated, holding hands.

A huge thank you to Jacqueline, Earl and Michael, who photographed alongside me throughout this extraordinary day.
