Numa & Rajat

A Froyle Park Wedding – Numa & Rajat
Numa and I have known each other since we were children.
We grew up in the same circle within the Nepalese community, and when she asked me to photograph her wedding to Rajat, I was genuinely honoured.
Rajat grew up in the United States and moved to the UK to be closer to Numa. They balance each other perfectly, and that shows in every photograph from their day.
Earlier that summer, I’d photographed them in Paris for their pre-wedding session.
By the time the wedding arrived, we knew each other well, and the day felt completely relaxed from the moment I arrived at Froyle Park at 7.30 am.
Numa had hand-made many of the details herself. Getting there early meant I could document everything before the day gathered pace.
The Western ceremony took place under the Dome just after 11 am.
Once it was over, Numa and Rajat changed into traditional Nepalese and Indian clothing for the second part of the day, the traditional ceremony, complete with dhol players leading the Baraat to the estate entrance.
The reception was everything a Froyle Park wedding should be.
The speeches were emotional and funny in equal measure.
The first dance was choreographed to the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, and yes, Rajat did lift Numa exactly on cue.
The day ended with a sparkler exit in the early hours. One of the longest, most colourful and most joyful weddings I’ve ever photographed.
