London, Your Story,
Honestly Captured

London Has A Million Backdrops, We’ll Find The Ones That Feel Like You

Pen Ponds Richmond Park

London is one of the best cities in the world for an engagement session.

Not because of the landmarks, though Tower Bridge and the South Bank don’t hurt, but because of the energy.

The streets, the light, the contrast between grand architecture and cobbled mews. There’s something happening around every corner.

An engagement session here is a chance for us to meet properly before your wedding day.

We’ll wander, we’ll talk, and somewhere along the way, I’ll capture the two of you exactly as you are, relaxed, together, and not thinking about the camera.

Most couples tell me it felt more like a date than a photo session.

That’s exactly how it should feel.

Your London Engagement Session

London Engagement Photography

The engagement session starts before we pick up a camera. We’ll meet for a coffee first, somewhere central, somewhere you choose.

It’s a chance to talk properly, to hear about your wedding plans, and for you both to get comfortable around me before we start wandering.

Once we’re out, the session is relaxed and unstructured. We’ll walk, we’ll talk, and I’ll photograph the two of you as you naturally are together. What I will do is notice the moments that happen when you’re not thinking about being photographed, the way you look at each other mid-conversation, the laughter that catches you off guard.

By the end of the session, most couples tell me it felt more like a day out than a photography session. That’s the point.

When your wedding day comes around, you won’t be meeting a photographer for the first time. You’ll be spending the day with someone you already know and trust. That makes a bigger difference than most couples expect

London Locations

London Engagement Photography

London has no shortage of beautiful places for an engagement session. If there are spots that mean something to you both, where you met, a favourite walk, a neighbourhood you’ve always loved. Let’s build the session around those. The best photographs come from places that genuinely feel like yours.

If you’d like some guidance, here are some of the areas I love working in:

The South Bank & Westminster: Tower Bridge, the Millennium Bridge, St Paul’s, the London Eye, Big Ben. The river pulls everything together, and the light along the Thames at golden hour is hard to beat. Borough Market and Shakespeare’s Globe add texture if you want something less formal.

Marylebone & Notting Hill: The quiet mews streets here are some of the most photogenic in the city. Familiar from films like Love Actually and Bridget Jones, they’re romantic without being showy. Notting Hill’s colourful terraces add a completely different energy.

The Parks: Richmond Park, Regent’s Park, Hyde Park, St James’s. Each has its own character. Richmond is wilder and more open; the deer are always a bonus. Regent’s Park is more manicured. Both work beautifully depending on the feel you’re after.

East London: Shoreditch, Spitalfields, Regents Canal and the streets around Columbia Road have a grittier, more urban feel. If you want something less traditional and more in line with how you actually live, this part of the city delivers.

Little Venice & Camden: The canals here are quieter and more intimate than the busier tourist spots. Beautiful in any season, and endlessly photogenic when the light hits the water.

Tell me which areas appeal to you, and we’ll plan a route that feels right for both of you.

Bad Weather

Don’t let the weather put you off.

Some of the best London engagement photographs come from overcast days; the light is softer, the streets are quieter, and there’s something quietly romantic about sharing an umbrella by the Thames.

Rain, mist, even snow, all add something. A go-with-the-flow attitude and the right coat are all you need.

What to Wear

Wear something you feel good in.

If you feel confident and comfortable, it shows in the photographs.

A few practical things worth knowing:
Coordinate rather than match. You don’t need to be in identical colours or a perfectly curated palette; just make sure you complement each other without clashing.

Avoid large logos, bold graphic prints or very bright colours. They draw the eye away from you and can date quickly.

Layers and textures tend to photograph well. A jacket, a scarf, a shirt over a t-shirt, these add depth without distracting.

Empty your front pockets. It sounds minor but it makes a visible difference.

If you want two different looks, bring a change of clothes. It’s an easy way to get variety across the session and gives you more to choose from when the gallery arrives.

Most importantly, dress for the weather, dress for the location, and dress like yourselves. I’m not photographing your outfits. I’m photographing the two of you.

QUESTIONS?

01 / How Long Does The Session Last?

Sessions typically run for one hour, though we can always add extra time if you want to cover more of the city..

03. What’s The Best Time Of Day?

Golden hour, the hour before sunset, gives the most beautiful light. That said, London looks great at any time of day and I’ll always advise on timing based on your chosen locations.

02 / Do We Need To Have Our Wedding Booked?

Not at all. Engagement and anniversary sessions are open to any couple, whether you’re newly engaged, recently married, or simply want photographs together.

04 / Can We Choose Our Own Locations?

Absolutely. If there are places that mean something to you, where you met, your favourite coffee shop, a park you walk through every weekend. Let’s include them. The best engagement photographs are rooted in something real.

If you’d like to spend a few hours exploring London together with photographs to show for it, I’d love to make that happen
